Week In Review

Well the last few days have included some great times, some crappy times, and a lot of work to change those crappy times into good times.

It started Wednesday afternoon when I get informed right as I'm leaving work that an angry county commissioner is postponing awarding my company almost twenty million dollars worth of good work. This obviously started a firestorm within the office and led to a pretty intense two days of meeting and planning and devising strategies to change this gentleman's mind.

If all that wasn't enough I get hit with another strange thing that the City of Austin is undertaking that basically disqualifies contractors that are not minority. So I started to develop a strategy to work around that and had a few things in mind. One of those things started with a meeting with a mutual friend over a drink at Iron Cactus in Hill Country Galleria. So I'm walking into the Iron Cactus and I see this little bitty squirrel run off the patio of the restaurant and into the bushes. For some reason, the squirrel just looks a little off so I walk over to look in the bush it ran into. It was a huge rat that was just chilling on the Iron Cactus' patio.

Alright, so after all that got taken care of, gametime!!! I headed out to dinner at TNT Thursday night with Randall. We had a few drinks and ended up going downtown to have a drink or two. Ran into a couple of my wife's friends so we got pretty tore up. Ended up with that dude who sings "I wanna be a billionaire".Got back to the valet stand to get my car about 3 AM and the one little dude that works there has no idea where anything is. So, im stuck. Thank God my friend Courtney had agreed to walk with me so I was able to get a ride with her.

Friday work was rough after Thursday evening. Made a few calls, signed a few checks, looked over some figures and got the heck out of their. Went to bed early Friday after hitting Chuys with my wife and having a really nice dinner.

Im Making up a master plan

Alright, lets get to this. Those of you who have known me for a while know that I used to be in control of all aspects of my social life. I made plans and the vast majority of people ended up doing what I had originally wanted to do. Now dont think I'm being all arrogant here. Perhaps only a few people did it becuase I was doing it. They did it because I planned really exciting things to do and I was able to sell it and hype it enough to get enough people that wanted to go that the people I actually cared about haging out with were there.

Here's where I find myself now. I've been out of the social scene for so long that I no longer carry any stroke with anyone, my friends included. I've lost all clout I have with the social circles in Austin. This has resulted in me having to go to people if I want to see them instead of them coming to me.

I know what got me where I was the first place and I know how to get back to it. I kept putting it off and never making it a priority because I wasnt sure I needed it to feel good about myself. I honestly got tired of my phone ringing fifty times a night every weekend night. But, what can I say, I miss the excitement. So all that's changing. I'm coming back and coming back hard. The next six months will be an exciting ride.

P.S. for those limited lucky few that no what it means AOWA is back.

A Champion Returns

So apparently it has become popular for the kids to have a blog these days to tell stories about their antics. Well, I figured since I was doing this back like 4 years ago, that the grandfather of blog beer drinking stories cannot let his blog die. So how did Jordan say it when he came back "I'm Back!" Look for daily updates. Please explain the shameless plugging that will be occuring on facebook over the next several days.

U wont believe this

A midget drove through a telephone pole and took out 100 feet of fence at our ranch and ended up in their car in the middle of our pasture...all true I swear to God. I so wished I would have been there for this and got pictures. Unfortunately I was not.

I haven't posted lately because I haven't done shit worth posting about. Sure I went out last weekend and had great times both Friday and Saturday night. Sure it was crazy and I have stories such as seeing two fights, Angela threatening a girl, a stripper going on and on about how nice my wife was, and some girl wandering around the afterparty looking for "something" on the floor, she either didn't know or wouldn't tell me what she was looking for. I honestly think she really didn't know what it was. And with all of this, I don't have one decent picture.

This week, started with a personal trainer getting back in shape. I used to do a good job keeping it tight, then marriage and career happened. This led me to letting myself slide. God further illustrated this point to me when I went to meet with some friends for a drink last Thursday night at a little outdoor coffee bar/bar place and I promptly collapsed the old piece of shit lawn chair I was sitting in. Nothing like breaking a chair in front of half a dozen of your friends and 20 strangers to motivate you to get in the gym. I'm going to get it back before next summer so I have started with a trainer three days a week and busting cardio on off days. This dude fucking kills me, not just kinda works me hard, like I feel like I want to kill myself halfway through the workout. When you start at 8 AM for an hour and by 8:10 your wishing it was over looking at the clock, you know its gonna be tough. But he'll definitely get me in shape...or I'll die on the gym floor of a heart attack (this apparently happened to some dude a few weeks ago).

Going to Dallas this weekend, to visit Robert and attend the OU game. To represent Texas, I will be driving the burnt orange Corvette pictured below. I figured why not. I'll bring my camera but I'm sure it'll be the same old "this is the stadium" pics. I doubt wild and crazy will happen since I am attending the game with a cop and his fiance, and a preacher and his wife. Wow I should hang out with these folks every weekend. If the cop cant keep me out of trouble, the preacher can pray for forgiveness for me.

Just another work night

Here are the pics as promised from Thursday night. Apparently I got a little shaky with the camera toward the end of the night as lot of the pics were out of focus. I managed to find a few representative ones for a decent weekday night in the ATX. Started out with dinner at Sullivans Steakhouse with Ryan and his new 61 "Entourage-esque" Lincoln Continental. That car is a freaking boat. Headed over and met up with some people over at Six Lounge and terrorized the DJ, bartender, and Spaghetti Warehouse patrons for a while (thanks to Rod the bartender for not getting mad at me running behind the bar and messing with the cash register, and to the DJ who allowed me to pick pretty much every song for about a ten minute period). Saw Shelly for her birthday evening briefly and said hello and had a drink. After that headed over to Madison, popped bottles half the night and then followed with an afterparty with about ten of us at my place till the wee hours. Good night.
Samantha and Jessica in the hot tub for the after party with all of us
John, Lexi, Ang, and Emily popping bottles at Madison
Birthday Girl Shelly for her lingerie theme birthday party

I made Rod the bartender teach me how to ring my own tab up
I kept requesting the same songs over and over from this guy
