Insert Clever Title Here

Last night's company basketball game was entertaining. We got rolled up by about twenty, but the other team went about seven deep and the starting five were all pretty good. Without Eric there, I felt the pressure to keep us in the game. I played out of my mind the first half and managed to actually have us in the lead at halftime. The other team got wise to this and came out in the second half and put their best player on me and started double teaming me. That basically ceased our offensive production. Whenever they would stop with the double teams I would try to get a couple of quick baskets before they started again, but it wasn't enough. We had drama amongst our team during the game that carried over into the workplace this morning. A word of advice "if you're playing on a company team and the company owner is the coach, dont yell at the coach during the game, he's also your boss's boss."

Bday party is coming on. Up to a very conservative sixty at this point. Got some cool stuff in the works.

I have my first two interviews for the personal assistant position today. I have two this afternoon and three tomorrow. I would like to get someone hired by this weekend in hopes of them starting next week.

You know, just when you think you're a big baller, you realize how far you have to go. I'm in the elevator this morning about six forty five headed to work. Another guy, who I know from the building, who lives on the top floor, is coming down also. A little history on this guy, he owns two adjoining units on the top floor. He's probably mid to late thirties. He was one of the initial people who developed the computer firewall. Basically the guy has a DIRTY bank account. Nice guy overall, kinda quiet, but friendly. I don't know if he lives in his place full time or not, but I hear he has a place somewhere in France also. I make the comment that it looks like he's going somewhere (he's carrying a gym bag and a backpack). He informs me he's going to San Diego for the day. I quickly think "damn that's a lot of airport time and flying for just a day trip". Then it hits me that I've been told this guy has not one, but two intercontinental jets. Kinda felt stupid, Im trudging out at seven AM to make my Thursday morning staff meeting, hes be-bopping out for a day trip on his jet to sunny southern California.

Overwhelming Response

Im staying with the blog right now. I am currently keeping two blogs, one here and one on Myspace. They say about the same thing and I am going to keep doing both of them until I determine which one I like better. Anyway on to more exciting news.

Birthday party is taking shape. We're still three weeks out and we already have 30 people RSVP'd. Looking for approximatley 150 - 200 folks at the party. If I dont get it, Ill be dragging people off the street since the Womacks were nice enough to give me the entire bar and I'll be damned if Im gonna give them a shitty night.

Two nights ago I finally made the decision that I need a personal assistant. Between work, school, working out, going out, and everything else, I hardly have time to do mundane chores. Things like laundry, cleaning the apartment, getting the car washed, grocery shopping, and other things like this. I put a post on Craig's list figuring I might get a few responses over the next couple of weeks and I could determine if I wanted to hire anyone. I got forty responses in one day. Some folks sent full blown resumes telling me about their college degrees and their work experience. My first question was,"If you have an BBA from Florida State, why are you applying for a part-time personal assistant job?". Other people just send pictures of themselves. These are usually the pretty girls who just want the job because of their looks. Funny how good looking girls think that is all it takes. So, Im going to go through all the responses this weekend and arrange some interviews next week. This should be entertaining.

Going The Way of The Dinosaurs

Well Guys:
The blog may be coming to an end. Not for sure yet, but I am currently on an active mission to either get rid of the myspace or the blog. Too much computing for me to keep interested. And since the Myspace has a blog section and its more interactive, I may just start posting over there. I do however like the fact that I am not limited to how many pictures I can post on this blog. So, we'll see. Anyway, I am committing myself to making my myspace different (its been the same for like six months) and Im going to post some new pics on there. So yall check it out. www.myspace.com/lifeofchristopher. Give me a couple of days to get around to it though.

I Tried

I tried to get into the Saint Patrick's Day spirit yesterday, but I just couldn't make it happen. Rested yesterday morning and watched college basketball. After getting up, I headed over to The Domain and checked out Neiman Marcus. This is a really nice place and the entire mall is really impressive. After that, I headed over to Hula Hut to meet up with some friends and have some leprechaun green margaritas. Had a few of those and after that headed over to Fado's Irish Pub. Got down there to meet up with my friends and realized that apparently everyone in Austin had the same idea I did. I was too hungover to wait in lines and fight crowds, so I was going to go to the house and relax a little bit. Went home and passed out for like three hours. Woke up and realized that last night was not going to happen. Went to bed at like ten-thirty.

Top of The Morning To Ya

WOW!!!

Before I begin, let me say Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

Last night got off to a slow start, but we brought it home and came through at the end. Group of eight of us went over to Union Park for some drinks. We were rolling pretty well and having a good time and I decided I needed to go get my camera. I walk back to my place and as I am approaching the building I see there is like a hundred people standing out front of my building. I ask the first person I see what is going on and they're like "we're trying to get into the Maxim party". Oh yeah, I forgot abot that. I had met the promoter earlier and he introduced himself and told us to come by. I didnt know it was this big of a deal. Anyway, i go back to the bar and finish off the night. At this point, we head to the house and have a few drinks at my place before heading upstairs. Here is where it gets weird. We head upstairs, get off the elevator on the roof and start walking over to Sonny and Rob's place (where the party is being hosted at). I look over toward the buildings rooftop pool just in time to see a guy and a girl putting their pants back on. Both of them, butt ass naked. They had just finished having sex on the pool lounger. Nice. Oh, Im just getting started. We head over the the party, lots of pretty people trying to be seen. Talk to some other residents and some other folks I knew for a few minutes. About four o'clock they start clearing folks out. So we take our group and head over to Kurt Francischini's place. For those who arent familiar with this guy. He is a fifty year old man who owns a terrace unit in the building as a "party house". He's from Houston and has basically transformed his unit into a high end nightclub. I had never met the man and all I am going to say is this guy is a piece of work. I live pretty fast and intensely but this guy and his little hanger on guys and girls even make me raise an eyebrow. I mean damn people. If you are not extremely assertive and almost downright aggressive, dont step foot in this place. It's basically a shark tank and if you dont make a point to let folks know that you're not going to put up with them sizing you up or hitting on your girl, they'll come over the top of you. I see why a lot of the other residents dont really hang out over there a lot. Basically, it was like a scene out of Scarface crossed with a porno movie. People completely passed out in random places and people having sex pretty much everywhere.

I got trusted with a secret yesterday that really sucks keeping it. Its one of those things where you're like "damn I wish I wouldnt have found that out".

I Think I Might Be Too Competitive

I just filled out my NCAA tournament bracket. All I'm gonna say is I am such a UT homer. Got them going to the Final Four. After that...Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk. Might as well hand the money over to me now.

On the subject of basketball, had another wacky time last night in the office league. Game got so out of hand, the referee threatened to call the game in the middle of the second half. Punches being thrown, people getting thrown out (I personally got a technical called on me and threatened by the referee for trying to finish a fight that I didn't start). Other team played rather dirty and about halfway through the first half, I decided I had enough of it. The same guy had been fouling me hard every time I got the ball and the referees wouldn't call it. I turn around after one particularly blatant foul and just flick the ball at him and hit him in the stomach with it. His 5'7" teammate decides he needs to step up and defend his teammate. He starts yelling and coming at me. I have my back turned to him and I turn and see he's talking to me and coming at me. At this point, I decide that there has been too much talking and not enough action, I dont say a word and just start walking to meet the guy. Straight at him. He realizes he has pissed the big kid off and begins doing the whole "hold me back" bit behind one of his teammates. Unluckily for him, my teammates don't care to slow me down. I am two steps from him and his teammate and am getting ready for the shot heard round the City of Austin league and the referee basically tackles me from behind. At this point I'm like "I was just walking" (I never said anything). Bang...Technical Foul "keep talking and I will call another one on you and you'll be ejected". Whatever. Two minutes later, me and one of my high school teammates put a trap on one of their guys and get a turnover. During the scramble and resulting mele, their guy hits my teammate in the face. It was on at this point. Me and my teammate get after the guy. After being separated, the referee calls a tech on my teammate and the opposing player. My teammate was incensed by this call being that he was the one who got hit in the face. He starts in on the referee about how its the ref's job to protect the players and he was not doing his job at all. Bang...ejected. At this point the referee decides he's going to call the game because it's getting out of hand. We convince him not to and as soon as he agrees, the other team starts talking shit again. I get into it with yet another player when he starts running his mouth about how he didn't foul me and I, in fact, fouled him. I told him he was full of crap and needed to learn the rules of the game and if he knew them he would know that he did in fact foul me. I was having a pretty good game, scoring wise, so when he retorts "well I guess lowering your shoulder is just your game", my response is "my game has more points than your entire team". It was a true statement at that point. Nothing like having it thrown in your face that the player you're talking trash to has outscored your entire team to shut somebody. He did not have anymore to say after that. Anyway, we won, I think Justin has to sit out next week also for getting thrown out. Tempers have been flaring lately. I got in trouble in my Saturday league last week to the point the referees had to stop the game and tell both teams to stop talking or play wouldn't continue. That was only because some little guy told me not to throw an elbow again and he wouldn't shut up about it and I politely asked "what are you going to do about it if I do"? Then his teammate reminded me that I was not the only big guy on the court and I politely told him that I was bigger than both of them put together.

With that diatribe done, I can say I never open my mouth first. But...if someone is gonna talk to the talk, I just assume they'll walk the walk. So I just skip straight to the walking part.

South By...Let's Get The Hell Out of Here

Well...South by Southwest is upon us. No Bueno. About three hours ago, four million people rolled into town and they are the indie music and film type. Im ready to get out of Austin until Sunday. Or at least get away from downtown. More about this later.

The only good thing that may come from this is the Maxim magazine party that is happening on the roof of my building this weekend. Apparently the scoop is that there should be some big names perform at this party. Could make for a good beer drinking session by the pool. We'll see.

Spurs game Saturday night, may try to make a night of it and head over to Howl at The Moon afterward. Lots of options here.

Tahoe trip got cancelled, nobody who was going could get real excited about it. We were like "oh ok, let's go skiing". I proposed postponing the trip and finding some other guy trip to take. Few ideas we're kicking around right now. They're gonna be really masculine and should be a great time. Considering going international on these trips.

So The Domain opened last weekend. I have not been yet. I hear it's great and it's much like shopping in Vegas. If that's the case, I better sign up for my frequent shopper card. In all actuality, a big part of the reason I have not been yet is Im worried I will overspend.

Took the new boat out last Saturday afternoon with the neighbors and drank a few beers. Everything went smooth. It's a lot of boat and getting to and from the lake is a bitch.

A bunch of guys from the office are riding bikes over to the casinos in Louisiana this weekend. Im still considering going, but I just cant get excited about riding that far on a motorcycle. Thats what they make airplanes for. Im dying to get out of town, maybe as early as tomorrow because of this dang SXSW.

Here it is!!!

Ok. Just got the word, invitations for the bday should be arriving in the next day or so. Im going to go ahead and put the RSVP email out there, the invitations will have this on it, but Im jumping the gun and getting a headstart. Send your RSVP's to

birthofchris@gmail.com

and let me know how many invitations you need. The invitations are your ticket to entry because we had a few crashers last year and want to avoid that if possible. So bring as many friends as you want as long as they are either 1) cool or 2) hot girls. Just let me know how many you'll be needing. Club holds 300, so dont be shy about inviting people.

Just Some Filler

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Bright sunshine filled day here in the capital city. Chuck demanded a shout out on the blog this morning. So ..."hey buddy, hope the workday is going well".

Boat salesman called me back Friday and told me he had been sick all week and that's why he hadn't returned my call from Wednesday. Promised me the boat would be ready Wednesday and "absolutely no later than Thursday". Maybe it will be ready Friday.

Tahoe is upon us it looks like. Talked to some folks up that way and they say everything is perfect right now. Looking like I will be up there the weekend of the 16-19 for a little guy's trip. I'm thinking I may focus a little more on the snowboarding part of it this trip. If it goes like every other time I have said this, I'll strap on a snowboard the first day, get overconfident by the end of the day, convince myself I can do something I cant, hurt myself a little, be back on skis for the rest of the trip.

Last weekend went well. Late getting up to the lake as usual. Headed over to the wedding and had a few cocktails at the reception. Ended up having enough cocktails to pass out by about ten thirty. It was really hard for everyone to get motivated about the lake and partying when it was real cold outside and we are all wearing suits. Good to see the whole lake crowd, first time we have all been in one place in quite some time. There were a few notable absences, but I'm sure we'll see them before too long. The wedding really made me realize and thankful that I am the youngest one of this group. When the conversation turned to babysitters and picking up the kids, I got really uncomfortable and immediately wanted to turn it to how drunk I got last weekend and the hilarity that ensued. Leigh represented at the wedding in a big way. She kept it real by drinking enough for all of us. Sunday morning we all went to breakfast at The Happy Cooker, a Granite Shoals landmark, and waited forty-five minutes for breakfast tacos. Hung out, got into some projects like we always do, and headed into Marble Falls to eat lunch. Went to Chili's and who do I run into? The "sick" boat salesman. Looked pretty healthy to me with the wife and kids and going up to Longhorn Caverns.

Spring break this weekend, no big plans other than not having class next week. Hooray for that. Assuming the boat gets done, I'm sure I will put it in and head up to Carlos and Charlies this weekend. If I am feeling very ostentatious, I may put it in Lake Austin and dominate the little ski boats at Hula Hut. That could be entertaining for at least a few minutes.

Birthday party is taking shape. Gonna be at Glass on Friday, April 13th. Got the invitations being printed this week, they're novel. Working on some other stuff that could make it a little more laid back and less drunk than last years for me. Mark your calendar though, its going to be a good time. Also be looking for details of the day after party thats going down on Lake Travis, weather permitting.

Busting the Place Up

Looking like another long weekend ski trip to Tahoe is in the works in the next couple of weeks. They got eight feet of snow last week, so I hear conditions are pristine right now. Just placed a call up to some locals to better learn about the snow conditions.

So, ive already told u all that Kenneth's wedding is this weekend. We were all looking forward to taking the new boat out on the lake this weekend. Well what does the genius boat shop do? The have a couple of knicks in the windshield powdercoat to fix so they remove the entire windshield and send it off for what they say should be no more than a week. That was three weeks ago. They've been telling me for three weeks they'll have it done and I was very patient and not in a rush and told them as long as I could pick it up March 2nd it would be fine. Oh yes sir yes sir it will be ready way before then. Well here it is and guess what...no boat. I went in there this morning and the only person I could find was the service writer. The service manager, my salesman, and the owner were all gone. These are the three people that i needed to get ahold of. The service writer tells me he doesnt know anything about it and he cant seem to get ahold of the svc. manager. Anyway go back over there a few hours later and he tells me it will be late next week. I lose it at this point. Basically caused a scene in the boat dealership. Call the salesman on his cell phone and leave him a message. He wont call me back because I am sure he knows why I am calling. But, Im saving it up for when he does finally return the call.

The depth of some people's stupidity, ignorance, lack of compassion and conscience truly amazes me. Or maybe its none of these, maybe they're just f-ing crazy? This is totally unrelated to the boat deal by the way. Im not that upset about the boat.

OK...Its Not Really That Bad

So...I have been in a funk the past few days. Good news is I am finally out of it as of yesterday. So, being back to my usual opinionated self, Im going to give you all my outlook on a few things if yall care to hear it.

First, my coworker down the hall, Chase, and his wife, Dara, are expecting their first child, a little girl, any second now. The doctor told them two days ago that Dara would go into labor within 48 hours. So, literally any second.

Second, I've got a friend right now who it just seems like his whole world is falling apart around him. It's got nothing to do with him or anything he has done, but it seems like everyone in his family is just throwing one piece of bad news after another at him and it is just really wearing on him. Im gonna try to get him out of town for a few days, maybe take a guys weekend in Vegas or a ski trip or something here in the next couple of weeks if things dont lighten up for him. On that note, and in regards to this situation, I want to point something out to everyone. Most of you probably already know this. There are truly some worthless people in this world. Some people who care about NOBODY but themselves. Some people who just dont get it. It's really sad to see the damage these people can do to those who make the mistake of caring about them.

Finally, Kenneth's wedding this weekend. Chuck and Leigh are headed in Friday and them and Ang and I are headed up to the lakehouse for the weekend to meet up with the rest of the LBJ clan. Look out Horseshoe Bay, its been a long time since you've been hit with the entire force of our bunch.
