America's Most Wanted

Now for the post everyone has been waiting on. In the days following the birthday everyone kind of layed low for recovery purposes. I went to Lake Travis a little while Saturday afternoon and just messed around. Anyway, I skipped class Monday night to catch up on The Sopranos, Entourage and 24 from the past couple of weeks. After clearing out the DVR, it was pretty late so Ang just decided to stay over at my place. Tuesday morning I had an early meeting. I am on my way and Angela calls me at about 7 AM. She tells me that her roommate's boyfriend broke into the apartment and attacked her roommate last night. The roommate got away but did not know where the boyfriend was so she advised Angela not to go home that morning to get ready in case he was still there. Whoa.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: All the following events are not factual, they are one side of the story, and in no way constitute guilt of one party or the other. Dont know if all this helped, but basically it says...dont send me some cease and desist letter if you happen to be someone's lawyer.

Details of this event...basically the roommate (who shall remain nameless because of the ongoing criminal and civil proceedings) broke up with the boyfriend the night before. He goes out, gets all twisted on who knows what and climbs up the apartment building to their second floor balcony. He then breaks into the sliding glass door and starts going through her phone. She is passed out on the couch while this is happening. She wakes up to find him sitting on the couch going through her phone. He finds a text he doesnt like and proceeds to choke her to the point that she almost passes out. He then steps back and says something to the effect of "im just kidding, i would never kill you". Long story short, he breaks a wine bottle on purpose, cuts himself all to hell in the apartment (place looks like a murder scene), bleeds all over everywhere, throws some stuff through the windows. Cops come the next morning, issue a warrant for him (turns out he also had pulled a shotgun on her two nights previous), issue a restraining order, and tell her to not stay at the apartment any longer.

OK...more exciting news. The Capital Excavation basketball team took home the championship last week. We somehow eeked our way into the playoffs with the lowest seed. Myself, as a devoted team captain ha, saw a glaring hole we had in our team. I recruited a friend of mine who I knew played a little. He showed up and played lights out. Really helped us out. We beat the team who had beat us twice during the season for the championship. They were a bunch of kids in their early twenties who basically outran every team they played. However, our team and their team had both played games previously that night , so it was gut check time. They tried to run and every time they did, they found us right with them. They found out there isnt much difference in athleticism between 22 and 27. We won our semi-final game pretty convincingly. Great victory, I played like crap in both games, but at least we got the W. One more thing, the referee HATED me. Threatened to throw me out, I kept yelling at him, gave me a T, told me I was playing the game too fast and thats the reason I wasnt getting any calls, I told him he needed to retire (he was like 60), openly ridiculed him in front of the fans. I must say I didnt represent too well for sportsmanship, but he was REALLY bad.

On the other hand, the other league i play in, the one that had not lost a game all year, got beat twice on Saturday. Frustrating thing was we had beaten both teams previously. We lost by about ten the first game and only because we didnt make shots. Second game, everyone forgot they had to show up. I was on the second game and was able to keep us in it for a while. But our guards couldnt seem to comprehend that after they hit five three pointers in a row, we might should guard them. Game was close at half time and then in the second half they caught fire and some of our guys gave up. We got worked by about 30.

Softball starts next week so I should have some more Wide World of Sports stories to share.

This week: Corpus Christi for the International Boat Show tomorrow, sky box at the Round Rock Express game Friday, Lake Travis Powerboat Association poker run Saturday, Devil's Cove Saturday afternoon. Summer starts tomorrow for me.

Bad Mood Post

Alright guys. Im in a REALLY bad mood today. People are just doing things that really piss me off. Like most everyone, there are a few basic qualities that some people exhibit that really piss me off. The first is extreme selfishness. People who are content to make others sacrifice something very significant so they can have something little. That irritates me. Some selfishness is ok and even encouraged. However, not to a significant degree. I like the "i'm gonna get mine" attitude. I dont like the "i'm gonna get mine, and yours, and everyone elses" attitude. The second and perhaps the most significant source of my irritation the past few days is people who do not do what they say they're going to do. In regards to all of these, I just wish people cared enough or had enough pride for all of these things. If you tell me you are going to do something, then make damn sure you do. If you cannot or will not do it, fine, but dont tell me you will.

Lets start with the first one. I dont understand how some people can be ok with a person sacrificing something that is very important to them so that the other person can be comfortable. I see people doing this all the time and it irritates me to no end. Give you an example just off the top of my head. Its chilly outside. Guy and a girl walking together. Guy has a sweater on and girl has a heavy coat on. Girl gets mad because she's a little cold and the guy doesnt want to give her his sweater. Keep in mind, the guy only has an undershirt one under the sweater. So now the girl has it exactly her way, sweater, coat, warm and cozy. Guy...frozen.

Second one. This has been a big one for me lately. I have always been the type, if i borrow something from you, I will hunt you down to return it. If I have something and somebody is really needing it, I will make myself available for them to get it. I certainly will not ignore their phone calls until I finally tell them, oh I dont have it anymore. This kind of shit is grounds for permanent removal from my social calendar. Another one, if I tell someone I am able or going to do something for them, you can bet I will make it happen and certainly will go back because its a little more convenient for me. This has happened to me no less than a dozen times recently. With some of them, I try to be understanding, but when its the same people doing it over and over and over again, shame on me for not learning my lesson sooner. Ok, with all of that done, I have very few pictures from my birthday (see the above paragraph for an explanation as to why I dont have more). Birthday was very exciting. Lots of folks came out and I think everyone had a good time. Thanks to The Marq for hosting us all. I think they benefited because we filled the place up for the first time in a while. I have attached a few pictures below.

Good things from the birthday party: Jon showing up unannounced from Zurich, Switzerland for it. Talk about a surprise. That's really cool of him, especially when I have an entire town full of friends in San Antonio who wouldn't even bother to respond to the evite or told me they would come and then didn't bother to show or let me know they weren't coming. I guess that one hour drive down Interstate 35 is a little more tedious than a 13 hour transatlantic flight. Another good thing from the party is I stayed relatively sober. For those who were there last year at the party, yall remember how out of hand it got. Managed to keep the composure the whole time.

I have much more to post (I havent even reached the big drama that occurred last Monday). Ill write some more later this afternoon.

So see the few pics of the bday below and the Plaza pool party on Saturday and Carlos and Charlies Saturday night.

Much To Tell

Much to tell that has nothing to do with this past weekend. Pretty serious stuff.

Also, bday party stories and weekend events. Try to write this post later.

T Minus Two Days And Counting

Birthday party is coming up in two days. Officially over 120 now. Judging by talking to folks, I think we're actually at about 140 at this point. Hoping to get over 150. Consider this a pep talk for those of you who haven't responded.

I've got my last City of Austin basketball game tonight. We have to play the team that beat us like a drum a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can make it a little more respectable this time around.

My other league has a tournament this Saturday. I have committed to play a game Saturday at 11 AM. That's gonna be tough with the birthday party Friday night. Im gonna make an honest effort though.

Softball starts in two weeks. Nice to get out and run around in the green grass.

Excited about going to Lake Travis this weekend for the first full fledged summer weekend.

Happy Easter

Well I've been posting on the Myspace blog also and I went on a little tyrade the other day, so you all check that out.

Michelle, my new personal assistant, is coming along great. Spent a few hours with her the other day and showed her all the locations (office, my place, ang's place, folk's house, etc). Her first day of work was actually Friday. She did great. Did all my laundry, went grocery shopping for me, set up some appointments, and returned some stuff for me. Tomorrow will be a brand new test as I need to send her to pick up some more stuff and then she has to pick up the canine from the kennel and take her to Ang's since Ang is gonna be out of town.

The new boat is going to B dock at Carlos and Charlie's. The folks are gonna put their boat on A dock which works out perfect for me. From what I've been told A dock is the Beverly Hills of Lake Travis and B dock is the Miami. A is a little more posh, a little nicer, bigger boats and the like. B is a little sleazier, a little more crazy, but still with super nice boats. There was talk of both boats going to B, that didnt sit well with me. The last thing I wanted to do was be drunk with a bunch of folks hanging out and have my folks roll up to their boat. This way they're close enough that I can still use their patio at their dock (A comes with patios and bars on the docks) and not have to worry about them rolling up to mine.

Yesterday I had to move dad's boat within the marina from one slip to another. It was suppossed to be a quick trip. Its about a five minute no wake ride. Everything was going perfectly until it started sleeting HARD. Luckily, the boat has the hard top on it but it was still damn cold.

Birthday party moved over a hundred people confirmed last week. From talking to people its looking like we have about 100-115 confirmed at this point. I think, with the last week rush we will be up over 130, maybe 150. Had lunch with Brad, The Marq's owner, on Friday and he told me he would alert a few of his friends to make sure the club looks full. Michelle is going to play photographer that night, so you all make sure you get her to take your picture.

Just found out, literally while I was typing the preceding paragraph that it looks like I am going to be going to Vegas Memorial Day weekend for the UFC Chuck Liddell vs. "Rampage" Jackson fight. Hopefully get out of Vegas Sunday morning and be back in Austin in time to go to the lake on Sunday night and all day Monday.

Last Thursday night went downtown with some Friends, it was a good time. We went to the grand opening of The Marq and had a few, then headed down to sixth and had drinks in a few different places. Home pretty early. Friday, went and saw 300 and it totally motivated me to get back in the gym and chase the "Spartan" abs. Even though, they're totally computer generated in the movie. Saturday, I did the boat thing and then caught up on my episodes of 24.

Oh yeah, I got promoted last week at work. Duties are going to stay the same for the next little while until I am able to find and train a replacement, but I have the new title. Im not going to give the new title on here, as it has not been officially announced at the office.

Florida Opened A Can

So Florida whipped Ohio State all over the court last night. Hmmm. As long as I got to see my "One Shining Moment" I didn't care.

I have given the title of the flakiest person I know to someone. Never given the title before to anyone. I was just resigned to the fact that some folks are flakes. But damn, this person whips everybody's ass. Not even close. Only person I know that will call you to make plans, get all hyped up about it right up to the point its time to do it, and then not bother to show. Truly taken flakiness to an art form. I have learned now, simply inform this person where you're going to be, invite them to join, dont expect him to show. If he does, wow I wouldnt know how to act. But, whatever you do, do not make plans that rely on this person.

Trash In Travis

Love me some alliterations...

OK...big updates. Not really. Finished up my basketball league last Friday night. The Friday / Saturday league finished the season undefeated. Now we just have to hold court in the end of season tournament in two weekends.

Friday night, I just passed out after the games.

Saturday, I ended up assisting with moving my dad's boat to a new marina. The boat is now housed at Carlos and Charlies. Made for some dicey docking with the high wind and sheer size of the boat. After getting it set up in the slip, Ang and I were gonna take it up to Christian's lakehouse on the Pedernales River. We start making the run (about a thirty minute ride at 50 mph). Get almost to the mouth of the river and run into horrible looking muddy water with debris everywhere. I knew there would be a little bit with the recent rains but the water coming out of the mouth of the river was way too disgusting to even try to continue. We turned around and made the run back to the marina and put the boat away. It was nice to finally get out on the water and in the sun.

Saturday night, we were going to go downtown for a bit. We ended up hooking up with some folks and then some more folks and we ended up with about fifteen people in our group. We started at Gruv, this place is still just packed on Saturdays. I dont really get it because there isnt that much to the place. Apparently from what I hear the owners are really nice people and they deserve it though. So I guess it's good. From that point, we all headed over to Prague. This is a great club as far as the layout and the decor. I think they could have saved a little money and made the club a little more chic if they would have not hung the flatscreens with sportscenter on them everywhere. Come on, your attention should be on the people you meeting, not the television. It's not a sportsbar. Notice I said nicer earlier, not cooler. They gotta crank up the AC in this place. It got so hot by the time we left that everyone in our party was sweating. Headed over to Foundation at this point. Finished the night off there. Ended up getting really drunk and having conversations between bathrooms with guys and girls (if you've been in the Foundation bathrooms, you know what I mean). Did a bunch of tequilla shots and ended up falling over in the hallway of my floor of my building. The bitch of it all was I had driven down to Gruv and parked the car, so I had to drive back to my place. That was rough and frightening as I passed the two cop cars parked on the road.

Sunday morning was bad news. I havent been hungover like that in a long time. I got up about eleven and had to go move my car because I was parked in someone elses garage space (I didnt give a crap if they towed me that night as drunk as I was). Went and got lunch in hopes of making myself feel better. It kinda worked. Then I went home and passed out until about six thirty. That worked and made me better except for the fact that everything I needed to get done yesterday didnt. I ended up running errands until like elevent o'clock last night.

Personal assistant news. Interviewed some good candidates last week. All would be viable options. I told them I would have a decision for them last weekend. I have yet to notify them. I think Im going to go with the girl who lives downtown who is only like two blocks away from me. Im a little worried about her reliability as I think she likes to party a lot. But, that's what firing people is for I guess.
