Fun filled weekend. I stayed in Friday evening because I was just a little burned out on the whole downtown vibe. I guess living a block from the warehouse district and having those clubs be my home away from home will do that to you. So I stayed home, didnt answer my phone, and went to bed at ten thirty.
Saturday morning I woke up early to go to my basketball game. For those of you who don't know, I play in a basketball league once a year, just to make sure I can still do it. This year, I recruited some friends of mine (two of them are in the following two pictures). Every single player on our team is pretty good. Therefore, I figure we will steamroll the entire league. Well, my esteemed teammates decided to stay out till five the morning of the game. So every single one shows up hungover. We led the entire game, only to lose to a three pointer with ten seconds left and the referees not giving us a time out as the clock ran down. Normally, I would be upset over the loss, but the team we played is one of the better ones in the league, and we only lost by one with most of the team still drunk on only four hours of sleep. So I know we'll be ok come tournament time.
Saturday evening, I went and watched my alma matter assert their Big XII supremacy over the Kansas Jayhawks. Unfortunately, I was entertaining a client and his wife (who happens to be a Kansas alum) at the game. I really wanted to laugh when the chants of "worse than Baylor" came out midway through the fourth quarter. However, I had to feign sympathy for the poor Jayhawks. Good win for UT.
After the game, Ang and I hooked up with Samantha and went to Patrick's party. Patrick was playing host to the first annual Rock Paper Scissors Championship. Congratulations to Kyle and his third place finish and congratulations to Luke on his being crowned champion.
I couldnt stay away for too long. After a few drinks at Patricks, several of us elected to go downtown. Brent met up with us at Cuba after leaving his buddies at Soho. Elliot, Odies, and their female companions apparently got lost on the way to Cuba Libre, so they were no shows. Mardi Gras was in full swing and every club was packed. We made friends with the waiter, who is apparently a myspace fan. Thanks for taking care of us Scott. Brent bailed at two, as he had a significant headstart on us in the drinking department and he was pretty well through at two. So the three amigos headed back to my place, had another drink or two, went and got some breakfast, and crashed out at like four thirty.
So Ive been sick the past couple of days. Trying to get better today since it's Fat Tuesday and Robert is in town.
