Come on guys, those of you who know me know I do not do huge crowds and long lines. So there was no way I was going to ACL. However, living right next to the drop off and pick up for the ACL shuttle at Republic Square Park definitely put me in the middle of ACL. Traffic was ridiculous all weekend, as was parking (its hell trying to cram a set of golf clubs into a Ford GT because you dont want to move your Denali for fear of losing your spot). But the crowds are gone, and life is returning to normal.
Well, last week went rather quickly. We won our softball game by ten or so runs, but the problem is our defense was really bad. We have to step it up before this Wednesday night as its our last game and we are playing the team we are tied for the league lead with. So, its basically the championship game.
This weekend started at the new ultra-lounge called The Belmont. Angela and I met up with Ashley and Chris and headed over to have a couple of drinks before making it an early night (I had a 9 AM tee time the next morning). A couple of mojitos into the night, I run into my buddy Josh. Josh was just stopping to have a drink or two with a couple of his friends after leaving ACL. About the same time, we run into Ashley, Mayra, and Bernie. So our little intimate gathering with a couple of friends turned into a gathering of about ten folks complete with shots and the like. Finally got out of there around 1:30. Made for a tough time getting to the course the next day. I actually played pretty well though. A few memorable events from the evening: the guy seriously proposing to the girl he just met (she said no), the valet telling me he didnt want to park my car because he couldnt afford it if he broke it, and getting the call from Amber and Cody to come hit up an after-party at like three in the morning (we didnt go, which I terribly regret after hearing about the party).
Finally: on a more somber note...my father showed his age for the first time today. He did something only someone who is waiting on his AARP card would do. Ill post details and pictures of the act tomorrow. But he also did something good when he gave me a BIG raise last week.
